Our membership consists of a diverse cross-section of the community, not just from South East Wales, but also from all over the U.K., and some even from mainland Europe. Contrary to common belief joining a canal Trust does not mean that you will be expected to undertake duties as a volunteer “navvy”, although if you fancy spending your time knee deep in mud then it can be arranged.
Come to our Events
Even if you don’t wish to become a member you can support us by coming along to one of the events that we normally organise throughout the year, and especially in the summer months. Our annual Duck Race in Llangynidr is always a popular occasion.
Look at our MBACT Events page for what’s coming up.

Share your love of the waterways with future generations
A gift in your Will is a legacy that lasts beyond your lifetime – helping us to protect the waterway you love for years to come.
Since 1984, we have fought for the restoration and improvement of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. We want to see a future where our superb local canal is fully restored to full navigation and is protected and improved for the enjoyment and benefit of all. Gifts in Wills, both small and large, can make a make a significant impact.
There are a number of ways to leave a gift in your Will – you can leave a share of your estate of as little as 1%, a cash sum or a specific item – your solicitor can help you decide which might be most appropriate.
Contact your Will writer or solicitor to add the Monmouthshire, Brecon & Abergavenny Canals Trust, charity – No. 515879, to your Will.
